Coastal Engineer - Perth - Fremantle Western Australia

About the role:

As the Coastal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of coastal projects across Australia. We carry out a wide range of projects, from environmental impact assessments of coastal infrastructure development, through to breakwater design, and assisting local governments plan for climate change. Data analysis, numerical modelling, problem-solving, critical thinking, and presenting results to clients in a digestible manner provide for an interesting & fascinating role.

Duties:

Support the coastal team with the following:

  • Proposal writing
  • Report writing
  • Analysis
    • Numerical modelling of hydrodynamics, waves, dredge dispersion, thermal & wastewater discharge
    • Breakwater & groyne design
    • Coastal processes assessments
    • Coastal hazard and risk assessments; planning for climate change

Skills & experience:

  • Appropriate engineering or scientific qualification(s)
  • 2-5 years’ experience in the coastal engineering sector with the majority gained working in WA
  • Excellent interpersonal & written communication skills
  • Numerical modelling experience
  • Data analysis skills (preferably using codes such as MATLAB or Python)
