Lower Ovens River Tour
Hidden Gems of the Lower Ovens River
Connecting communities with their waterways and building on a their understanding of the waterway is passion for all at Water Technology.
Jamie Kaye, our Principal Ecologist, had the opportunity to be a tour guide for over 40 people as part of an event run by North East Catchment Management Authority, Ovens Landcare Network and Parks Victoria. The diverse group, from across the region, had the opportunity to share their experience and to hear from experts, such as Jamie, about the river system, its function and how it is connected to wetlands and the floodplain.
“This field day went some way in explaining why it [the lower Ovens] is so special and we hope attendees can discuss some of those features with others in the community”, said Jamie.
Thank you to North East Catchment Management Authority, Ovens Landcare Network and Parks Victoria for organising the event and for all that joined in.
Keep an eye out for the next tour to be held in summer.
Below are a couple of articles about the event from the Wangaratta Chronicle.
