Water Technology are proud to announce that a project we worked on: ‘Preparing Kangaroo Island: Whole-of-Island Disaster Risk Reduction and Mitigation Plan’ received a 2024 Planning Institute of Australia SA Award for Planning Excellence in Climate Change and Resilience last week.

As partners to the lead consultant Meridian Urban, our involvement centred around the community engagement and appraisal of multiple disaster risk reduction actions from over 40 local, regional and state strategic and operational documents to synthesise a truly holistic multi-hazard action plan.

Our coastal experts also provided some technical advice to Council for ongoing management and resilience to mapped sea level rise.

It was a pleasure working with Meridian Urban and Kangaroo Island Council on this strategic project. We hope that it helps the evolution of disaster mitigation and climate adaptation on the Island.
